Prof.Dr. Ercan YÜKSEL is a structural engineer whose research fields are

  • Structural dynamics and shake table tests,
  • Software development for nonlinear structural analyses,
  • Seismic energy dissipative systems, dampers,
  • Low-cost seismic base isolation systems,
  • Precast concrete structures and beam-to-column connections,
  • Research-related testing, homologation and design verification testing of railway track

He visited Japan in 1993 and studied with Prof.Tsuneo Okada of Tokyo University and Building Research Institute in Tsukuba. He attanded several experimental studies and gained experience on quasi-static, psudo-dynamic and shake table tests. Afterthat, he studied with Prof.Andrei Reinhorn of State university of New York at Buffalo in 2005 to implement the adaptive pushover procedure in nonlinear structural analysis software of IDARC3D. He teaches "Theory of Structural Systems", "Advanced Theory of Structures" and "Matrix Methods in Structural Analysis" in undergraduate and graduate schools. He has served for many national and international research projects such as JICA, TUBITAK, NATO, FP6 and FP7. He has several journal papers and proceedings written in Turkish and English. He is currently director of Structural and Earthquake Engineering Laboratory of Istanbul Technical University.
